The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, (2) With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" (3) Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." (4) "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" (5) Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? (6) The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- (7) We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. (8) In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. (9) Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? (10)
