The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. (4) Some say, "These are his confused dreams." Others say, "He has invented it himself," and yet others say, "He is a poet. Let him bring us a sign as previous messengers did." (5) There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? (6) And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. (7) We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. (8) Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (9) Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? (10)
