The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. (1) Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." (4) Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." (5) Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? (6) Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. (7) Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. (8) We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. (9) We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? (10)
