The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. (1) Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, (2) Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? (3) Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." (4) But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (5) Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? (6) For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" (7) We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. (8) Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. (9) [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? (10)
