The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! (1) Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, (2) their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' (3) He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (4) They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." (5) Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? (6) (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (7) And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. (8) Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (9) [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? (10)
