The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. (1) Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. (2) their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' (3) Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." (4) Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). (5) Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? (6) And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- (7) We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. (8) Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (9) We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? (10)
