Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." (4) But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (5) Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? (6) The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (7) We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. (8) Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
