Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. (1) Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- (2) their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" (3) Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." (4) They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." (5) Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? (6) And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not (7) We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. (8) Then We fulfilled the promise We had made to them: We rescued them and those whom We wished, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. (9) Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? (10)
