Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. (1) Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, (2) With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" (3) He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. (4) Nay, they say:"These (revelations of the Quran which are inspired to Muhammad SAW) are mixed up false dreams! Nay, he has invented it! Nay, he is a poet! Let him then bring us an Ayah (sign as a proof) like the ones (Prophets) that were sent before (with signs)!" (5) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (6) And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- (7) And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, (8) Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. (9) Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? (10)
