The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; (1) Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' (4) "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" (5) Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? (6) And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. (7) Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. (8) Then We fulfilled the promise We had made to them: We rescued them and those whom We wished, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. (9) Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? (10)
