Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. (1) There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. (4) Some say, "These are his confused dreams." Others say, "He has invented it himself," and yet others say, "He is a poet. Let him bring us a sign as previous messengers did." (5) (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? (6) And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. (7) And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. (8) In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. (9) Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? (10)
