Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! (1) Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, (2) their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." (5) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (6) And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. (7) Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. (8) Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. (9) We have indeed sent down towards you a Book, in which is your repute; so do you not have sense? (10)
