Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? (3) He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." (4) Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). (5) There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? (6) And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. (7) We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. (8) Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
