The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." (5) Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? (6) The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (7) And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. (8) In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. (9) Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? (10)
