The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The time of people's reckoning has drawn near, and yet they turn aside in heedlessness. (1) no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, (2) their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" (3) And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." (4) They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." (5) Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? (6) And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men, whom We inspired. Ask the followers of the Reminder if ye know not? (7) We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. (8) Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
