The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; (1) There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. (2) Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. (5) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (6) For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" (7) And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food nor that they abide on earth forever. (8) Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (9) We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? (10)
