Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ [The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' (4) Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' (5) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (6) We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' (7) We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. (8) Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. (9) Certainly We have revealed to you a Book in which is your good remembrance; what! do you not then understand? (10)
