Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; (1) Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' (4) But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (5) (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? (6) We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' (7) We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. (8) In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. (9) Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? (10)
