The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. (2) their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' (3) Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." (4) Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). (5) Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? (6) And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men, whom We inspired. Ask the followers of the Reminder if ye know not? (7) Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. (8) Then We fulfilled Our promise to them and We saved them and those with them whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. (9) We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? (10)
