The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. (1) No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen (2) their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). (5) There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? (6) And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. (7) We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. (8) In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. (9) We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (10)
