The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- (2) their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" (3) He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." (4) "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" (5) (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? (6) We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' (7) We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. (8) then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. (9) We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? (10)
