The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" (3) Say: "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)." (4) Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). (5) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (6) Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. (7) Nor did We make them bodies that ate no food, nor were they immortal. (8) Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. (9) Now We have sent down to you a Book wherein is your Remembrance; will you not understand? (10)
