The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. (1) Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". (4) They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." (5) There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? (6) And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. (7) We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. (8) then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. (9) We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? (10)
