The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, (2) Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" (3) Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." (4) But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (5) Not a city before them which We destroyed believed; will they then believe? (6) The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- (7) and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. (8) We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. (9) We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? (10)
