Hizb 33
Juz 17
The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. (1) There comes not to them a new reminder from their Lord but they hear it while they sport, (2) their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" (3) Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." (4) Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). (5) Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? (6) The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (7) and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. (8) In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. (9) Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Quran) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Quran and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand? (10)
