Also We revealed unto Moses, 'Go with My servants by night; strike for them a dry path in the sea, fearing not overtaking, neither afraid.' (77) Pharaoh pursued them with his legions so they were overwhelmed from the sea with that which drowned them. (78) And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them]. (79) O ye Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a Covenant with you on the right side of Mount (Sinai), and We sent down to you Manna and quails: (80) 'Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you; but exceed not therein, or My anger shall alight on you; and on whomsoever My anger alights, that man is hurled to ruin. (81) And verily I am the Most Forgiving unto whomsoever repenteth and believeth and worketh righteously, and thereafter letteth himself remain guided. (82) ۞ And what hath made thee hasten from thy people, O Musa? (83) He submitted, “They are here, just behind me and O my Lord, I hastened towards You, in order to please You.” (84) He said, “We have therefore tried your people after you came, and Samri has led them astray.” (85) Moses returned to his people full of wrath and grief, and said: "My people! Has your Lord not made good an excellent promise He made to you? And has a long time passed since those promises were fulfilled? Or was it to incur the wrath of your Lord that you broke your promise with me?" (86) They said: "We did not break our promise to you of our own will, but we were made to carry the loads of ornaments belonging to the people, which we threw (into the fire), and so did Sameri. (87) then he forged a calf for them -- an image producing a lowing sound. They said, "This is your deity, the deity of Moses; he has forgotten it." (88) What? Did they not see that thing returned no speech unto them, neither had any power to hurt or profit them? (89)
