Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. (41) (And remind people) when he said to his father: "Father! Why do you worship that which neither sees nor hears, and which can be of no avail to you? (42) Father, I have received the knowledge which has not been given to you. Follow me; I shall guide you to the right path. (43) Father, do not serve Satan, for Satan has indeed been a persistent rebel against the Most Compassionate Lord. (44) "O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (Allah) Most Gracious, so that thou become to Satan a friend." (45) But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' (46) Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. (47) Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' (48) So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and each one of them We made a Prophet. (49) We granted them Our mercy and bestowed on them true and high renown. (50)
