In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Kaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Sad. (1) A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah. (2) When he called to his Lord inwardly, (3) "Lord, my bones have weakened and my head has turned hoary with age, but never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to you: (4) And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. (5) Who should inherit me and inherit from the children of Yaqoub, and make him, my Lord, one in whom Thou art well pleased. (6) O Zakariya! surely We give you good news of a boy whose name shall be Yahya: We have not made before anyone his equal. (7) "How can I have a son, O Lord" he said, "when my wife is barren and I am old and decrepit?" (8) Said He, 'So it shall be; thy Lord says, "Easy is that for Me, seeing that I created thee aforetime, when thou wast nothing."' (9) [Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound." (10) So he came from the chamber to his people, and suggested to them (by signs) to sing the praises of the Lord morning and evening. (11) “O Yahya hold the Book firmly”; and We gave him Prophethood in his infancy. (Prophet Yahya was only 2 years old at that time.) (12) And tenderness from Our presence and purity, and he was God-fearing. (13) And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. (14) Hence, [God's] peace was upon him on the day when he was born, and on the day of his death, and will be [upon him] on the day when he shall be raised to life [again]. (15)
