Mary (Maryam)
98 verses, revealed in Mecca after Initiator (Faater) before T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Kaf. Ha. Ya. Ain. Sad. (1) A mention of the Mercy of your Lord to his worshiper Zachariah, (2) When he called to his Lord a private supplication. (3) He said: "Lord! My bones have grown feeble and my head is glistening with age; yet, never have my prayers to You, my Lord, been unfruitful. (4) And now I fear my kinsfolk after I am gone; and my wife is barren. So give me, from Thee, a kinsman (5) "(One that) will (truly) represent me, and represent the posterity of Jacob; and make him, O my Lord! one with whom Thou art well-pleased!" (6) (His prayer was answered): "O Zakariya! We give thee good news of a son: His name shall be Yahya: on none by that name have We conferred distinction before." (7) He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age? (8) He replied: 'It shall be so; your Lord says: "It is easy for Me, indeed, I created you before time when you were not a thing." (9) He said, 'Lord, appoint to me some sign.' Said He, 'Thy sign is that thou shall not speak to men, though being without fault, three nights.' (10) Then Zachariah came forth from the shrine to his people and told them by signs to glorify the Lord morning and evening. (11) (To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth, (12) We gave him compassion and purity. He was a pious human being, (13) kind to his parents, not arrogant or a rebellious person. (14) Peace be on him on the day of his birth, and on the day of his death, and peace will be on him on the day he is raised up to life again. (15)
