They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." (83) We granted him power in the land and endowed him with all kinds of resources. (84) So he followed a way (85) Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." (86) He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: (87) But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have a reward of Paradise, and we will speak to him from our command with ease." (88) Then followed he (another) way, (89) Until, when he came to the rising place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We (Allah) had provided no shelter against the sun. (90) Thus. And We had encompassed [all] that he had in knowledge. (91) Then he followed a road (92) Until, when he reached [a pass] between two mountains, he found beside them a people who could hardly understand [his] speech. (93) They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?" (94) He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength; I will make between you and them a dam. (95) Bring me blocks of iron to fill up the passage between the two mountains." He told them to ply their bellows until the iron became hot as fire. Then he told them to pour on it molten brass." (96) Thereafter they could neither scale it, nor could they pierce it. (97) He said, “This is the mercy of my Lord; then when the promise of my Lord arrives, He will blow it to bits; and my Lord’s promise is true.” (98) ۞ Upon that day We shall leave them surging on one another, and the Trumpet shall be blown, and We shall gather them together, (99) And on that Day We shall place hell, for all to see, before those who denied the truth (100) Those whose eyes were hoodwinked from My reminder, and who could not bear to hear. (101)
