The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: (1) right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage (2) In which they will abide forever. (3) And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." (4) Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. (5) Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps. (6) Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. (7) Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. (8) Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? (9) When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, "Our Lord, grant us Your special mercy and give us right guidance in our affair." (10) So We prevented them from hearing in the cave for a number of years. (11) Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. (12)
