The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; (1) unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage (2) wherein they shall abide for ever; (3) and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; (4) (A thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, Dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie. (5) Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). (6) Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. (7) but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. (8) Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? (9) Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. (10) Wherefore We put a covering over their ears in the cave for a number of years. (11) and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. (12)
