The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, (1) unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage (2) Staying in it for ever; (3) And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." (4) No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. (5) Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. (6) We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; (7) Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). (8) Do you think the men of the cave and Ar-Raqim were so strange among Our signs? (9) Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" (10) Wherefore We put a covering over their ears in the cave for a number of years. (11) We then awakened them to see which of the two groups more accurately tells the period they had stayed. (12)
