The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. (1) (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). (2) Wherein they shall remain for ever: (3) and also to warn those who say: "Allah has taken to Himself a son," (4) No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. (5) Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. (6) We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; (7) Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). (8) Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? (9) When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." (10) And thereupon We veiled their ears in the cave for many a year, (11) Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. (12)
