The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 They do not have any knowledge of it nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Then We roused them to find out which of the party had the correct account of the duration of their sleep in the cave. 12
