The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) (1) (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, (2) In which they will abide forever. (3) And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." (4) They do not have any knowledge of it nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. (5) Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. (6) Verily We have made whatsoever is on the earth as an adornment thereof, that We may prove them - which of them is best in work. (7) And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. (8) Do you not think that the story of the Companions of the Cave and the Inscription was one of Our marvelous miracles? (9) (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" (10) We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years (11) and then We awakened them: [and We did all this] so that We might mark out [to the world] which of the two points of view showed a better comprehension of the time-span during which they had remained in this state. (12)
