The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. (1) an unerringly Straight Book, meant to warn of a stern punishment from Allah, and to proclaim, to those who believe and work righteous deeds, the tiding that theirs shall be a good reward (2) therein to abide for ever, (3) Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": (4) a thing about which they have no knowledge, neither they nor their ancestors. Dreadful is the word that comes out of their mouths. What they utter is merely a lie. (5) Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps. (6) Verily We have made whatsoever is on the earth as an adornment thereof, that We may prove them - which of them is best in work. (7) In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. (8) Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? (9) (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" (10) Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. (11) Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. (12)
