The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; (1) (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, (2) In which they will abide forever. (3) And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son." (4) No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. (5) Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). (6) We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. (7) and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! (8) Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? (9) When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, "Our Lord, grant us Your special mercy and give us right guidance in our affair." (10) Wherefore We put a covering over their ears in the cave for a number of years. (11) Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. (12)
