The Night Journey (Al-Isra)
111 verses, revealed in Mecca after Stories (Al-Qasas) before Jonah (Younus)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Glory be to Him Who made His servant to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque of which We have blessed the precincts, so that We may show to him some of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (1) We gave Moses the Book, and made it a source of guidance for the Children of Israel, commanding: "Take no other Guardian beside Me." (2) O progeny of those whom We bare with Nuh: verily he was a bondman grateful. (3) And we made [this] known to the children of Israel through revelation: Twice, indeed, will you spread corruption on earth and will indeed become grossly overbearing! (4) Then when the promise for the first of the two came, We raised against you bondmen of Ours endued with exceeding violence, so they entered the dwellings; and it was a promise fulfilled. (5) Then did We grant you the Return as against them: We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power. (6) If you do good deeds, you will for your own good and if you commit evil, it is for yourself; therefore when the second of those promises came so the enemy maim your faces, and enter the mosque as they had entered it the first time, and destroy until they ruin all they could capture. (7) It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you, but if ye repeat (the crime) We shall repeat (the punishment), and We have appointed hell a dungeon for the disbelievers. (8) Surely, this Quran guides to the most upright way and gives good news to the believers who do good deeds, so that they will have a great reward (9) And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter - We have prepared for them a painful punishment.
