So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, (61) He said: verily ye are a people stranger. (62) 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. (63) and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, (64) So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. (65) And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. (66) And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) (67) He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. (68) Fear God and do not shame me." (69) They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? (70) He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). (71) Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. (72) So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; (73) And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. (74) Surely in that are signs for such as mark; (75) That town lies on a road which still exists. (76) Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. (77) Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, (78) On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. (79)
