And the disbelievers said to their Noble Messengers, “We will surely expel you from our land, unless you accept our religion”; so their Lord sent them the divine revelation that, “Indeed We will destroy these unjust people.” (13) and let you live in the land after them. This is for him who fears My station and fears My threat' (14) But they sought victory and decision (there and then), and frustration was the lot of every powerful obstinate transgressor. (15) Hell went after him, and he will be made to drink liquid pus*. (* Discharged from the wounds of other people in hell.) (16) he will sip and will not find it easy to swallow it. Death will approach him from every quarter, yet he will not die. More intense suffering will lie ahead of him. (17) The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: No power have they over aught that they have earned: that is the straying far, far (from the goal). (18) Hast thou not seen that God created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He will, He can put you away and bring a new creation; (19) This is well within the power of God. (20) They all come forth unto their Lord. Then those who were despised say unto those who were scornful: We were unto you a following, can ye then avert from us aught of Allah's doom? They say: Had Allah guided us, we should have guided you. Whether we rage or patiently endure is (now) all one for us; we have no place of refuge. (21)
