And so, when they lost all hope of [moving] him, they withdrew to take counsel [among themselves]. The eldest of them said: "Do you not remember that your father has bound you by a solemn pledge before God - and how, before that, you had failed with regard to Joseph? Hence, I shall not depart from this land till my father gives me leave or God passes judgment in my favour: for He is the best of all judges. (80) "Return to your father and say, 'O our father! Verily, your son (Benjamin) has stolen, and we testify not except according to what we know, and we could not know the unseen! (81) "And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned, and indeed we are telling the truth." (82) He said: nay! yourselves have embellished for you an affair; so seemly patience! Belike Allah may bring them all unto me; verily He! only He is the Knowing, the Wise. (83) And he turned away from them, crying, "Alas for Joseph!" His eyes went white with grief, and he was filled with sorrow. (84) They said: 'By Allah, will you not cease to mention Joseph until you are consumed, or are among the perishing' (85) He said, “I complain of my worry and grief only to Allah, and I know the great traits of Allah which you do not know.” (86) O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people." (87) When they entered Joseph's court, they said, "Noble Prince, hardship has struck us and our people. We have come with a little money, so give us a measure of grain and be charitable to us. God will give the reward to those who give charity". (88) He said, 'Are you aware of what you did with Joseph and his brother, when you were ignorant?' (89) They said, “Are you, in truth you, really Yusuf?” He said, “I am Yusuf and this is my brother; indeed Allah has bestowed favour upon us; undoubtedly whoever practices piety and patience so Allah does not waste the wages of the righteous.” (90) [The brothers] said, "By God! Most certainly God has raised you high above us, and we have indeed been guilty!" (91) He replied: "No blame lies with you today. May Allah forgive you. He is the Most Merciful of all those that are merciful. (92) “Take along this shirt of mine and lay it on my father’s face, his vision will be restored; and bring your entire household to me.” (Prophet Yusuf knew that this miracle would occur.) (93)
