A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) (1) A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: (2) Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. (3) And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! (4) Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. (5) Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; (6) and thereupon We shall most certainly reveal unto them Our knowledge [of their doings]: for never have We been absent [from them]. (7) (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. (8) Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. (9) We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. (10)
